Movie Opening Festival 2023 – 5 days of free concerts in Locarno’s Piazza Remo Rossi
Street-art Locarno 2023: Armino Kistler’s colorful bubbles invade Locarno’s Piazza Remo Rossi
“Colors are now at home in Piazza Remo Rossi, but this year I wanted to add a touch of depth and perspective to the previous work, breaking the lines (138colors) to create a new rhythm.”
Armino Kistler, born in Zurich but adopted from Ticino and with an atelier in Barcelona, thus defines his new work. The art installation will be present on the Square in front of the PalaCinema throughout the 2023 season.
The intent of the Street-Art Locarno project is to create an annual competition for the installation of the space. The Remo Rossi Square would then become Ticino’s first platform for national and international street-art, dressing up with a new work each year.
Artist Kistler says, “Because it is a pedestrian area of high traffic, people on the move will be part of the work that they will unconsciously animate themselves. They will be audience and actors, because with every step and every hour they will see different symmetries and perspectives, ‘a film,’ new”
The work will be made live on site until April 4 with many curious passersby, who in turn also helped paint the 160-square-meter wall with colorful bubbles.
The official opening will be held on Wednesday, April 5, starting at 6 p.m. with a DJ set by Maik. The first evening from 9 p.m. will feature a concert by ABBA DREAM, a popular tribute group of the legendary Swedish band.
On Thursday, April 6, it will be time for the home favorites, namely VASCO JAM who will make the whole Remo Rossi Square dance and sing.
Friday, April 7 there will be another top-notch tribute band, QUEEN MANIA with all the hits of Freddie Mercury and the historic Queen.
Saturday, April 8 there will be an explosion of colors with the STARFISH, Coldplay tribute band.
On Sunday, April 9 at the conclusion of the event there will be dancing with PARTY BLAST! by Vanilla with DJ’s masked DA BROZZ always beloved in Locarno.
All events are free, the soundtrack before and after the concerts is provided by DJ’s Kenny Ground, Yatu, Matteo Vanetti, Maik and She DJ Toshka.
